Dynamic Excel-based Gantt Chart tool

Have you ever wanted to share a project timeline or Gantt Chart with others, but your audience lacked the required software (such as MS Project)? As an Engineer for a major aerospace company, I often found myself in this position and had to tediously create timelines to share using PowerPoint or Excel.

Now as a freelancer, I have created a powerful and feature rich Excel-based tool that automatically creates a professional Gantt Chart from a simple task list.

Features

  • Simple and easy to use interface that requires little to no prior Excel experience. The Gantt chart is automatically created by entering task information on the Task List worksheet and pushing a button.
  • Intuitive Task List data entry allows the use of Task Dependencies, accommodates 3 different levels via standard WBS structure (i.e. Project, Activity & Task), tracks effort in hours and allows the choice of three Task Types (Percent Complete, Level of Effort and Milestones).
  • Visual Gantt Chart Task Bars and Status Lights that automatically show task progress and provide warnings when a task is running late or ending soon.
  • Interactive Gantt Chart “Slicers” to filter data by Project, Activity, WBS Level, Responsibility, Priority or Year.
  • Easy means of sharing via a copy/paste utility, which captures an image of the Gantt Chart, including a movable Legend, with a push of a button. This will allow you to transfer an image to a variety of file formats (.pdf, .ppt, .doc) or email.
  • Insightful Output Data and Analysis Report worksheets to gain further perspective into project data.
  • Clear and concise Instructions included if deemed necessary.
  • Versatile Settings worksheet with options for the following:

 

  1. a daily / weekly calendar view
  2. ability to include all days or exclude weekends & holidays
  3. choice of color schemes
  4. revise Status Light day thresholds

Inventory Tracker

A simple, yet powerful, Excel-based tool anyone can use to keep track of their everyday life consumables. I found it to be particularly useful in supplying my Mother with prescriptions and other personal items from far away. I now also use this to track my own household items like propane exchanges, house water filters, ink cartridges, and many other items.
